Happy St. Patrick's Day! I've been lucky enough to have been photographing this family since Amanda was pregnant with her daughter, nearly 3 years ago. It has been wonderful to watch little Astrid grow, and in the summer she became a big sister when August joined the family (see that session here).

But last week, it was all about August. I spent a morning with just him and his mommy. This little guy is ray of sunshine, literally. He is so full of smiles, you can't help but feel good when around him.

Brooke at 10 months | Toronto Family Photographer

I've been trying to set aside time each month to spend a few minutes with my camera and Brooke, just the two of us, so I can be sure I am capturing her at each stage. The first year goes by so quickly and they grow and change so much. I find I rely so much on my iPhone for photos these days, I forget how much I love shooting with my camera, with my girls as the subject. I missed 9 months so I had been thinking about when I might find the time to do 10 months, but it ended up happening by accident yesterday. Brooke was in her usual favourite spot by our back sliding doors after her afternoon nap and I was getting organized so we could go for a walk while it was still sunny. The back of our house faces west and the setting sun was streaming in on Brooke, and of course I naturally grabbed my iPhone to take a snap, but then something dawned on me  – here was the perfect opportunity capture Brooke, doing what she normally does.  I thought I would take just few shots but once I started, Brooke found it fun to chase after me and we ended up spending quite awhile just crawling around the kitchen together.

She's serious in this last frame. Perhaps starting to find it a bit annoying that I won't let her have my camera to play with.

I met two sweet boys earlier this week...

While a family session is planned for later this spring, their mom wanted some photographs to capture the stages they are at now, so a mini-session worked out perfectly. I can't wait to see these little guys again in a few months...

Cali & Kyra | Toronto Family Photographer

Yesterday, I spent an hour with Kyra and her sweet baby girl, Cali. Kyra made us coffee, we admired Cali's adorable clothes, talked about the frigid weather that's keeping everyone stuck indoors, and I held my camera and snapped away.

Kyra and Cali's hours together, the days, weeks, and months – they will go by far too fast.

I spent less than 60 minutes with them. And these portraits will be a reminder of Cali at 5 months old. Her adorable expressions, those tiny toes, the way she smiles at her mama and sticks out her tongue, and is just so content to be next to her all day long.

Happy New Year! Welcome 2014...

Happy New Year! After a 3-week holiday with my family, I'm back to work this week. It feels good to be setting goals and making resolutions for 2014. Already it looks like January is going to be a busy month with lots of babies on the way. And above is my own – Brooke at 8 months.

I've been photographing this family since their firstborn was just a wee one and now she's a preschooler with a baby brother in tow. It's so wonderful to be able to capture a family as it grows...

This was one of my last sessions of the summer and as the days get colder, I'm already longing for a warm sunny day. Am I the only one who is terribly disappointed to have to wear socks!?! I love this family. Pretty much that sums it up. They are always so easy-going and there is never a shortage of laughter. Could be because little Astrid says and does the funniest things (as 2-year olds do). And throwing a baby boy into the mix just means double the hugs and cuddles. AND, they have the coolest names. ever. Astrid and August. Why didn't I think of those names!?!

This season is busy!  Fall is such a beautiful time of year for family photos, and as the weather turns cooler and the days get shorter, everyone seems to scramble to get their yearly "family photos" scheduled in (myself included!). I have worked with some awesome families over the last few weeks and I have some beautiful portrait sessions to share, starting with this one – my sister and her crew!
