windows + alleyways | Toronto newborn photographer

Kim is a fellow photographer who has photographed my family and become a friend over the years. It was a dream to spend a morning with her family as they recently welcomed a new little guy into their lives.

This is a long set to share… I just couldn’t narrow it down.

calling on the universe

A friend recently posted on Facebook "a call to the universe" for a few of things she would like to attract into her work-life, and it got me to thinking about my own work and what the next little while would have in store. I took the summer off this year to spend it with my girls and I honestly was not prepared AT ALL when September hit and we had to go back to reality this past Tuesday. I sheepishly responded to emails and apologized for delays.

I had prepared this blog post back in March but never hit the post-button. I have no idea why. Was I feeling nervous or insecure? Probably. Either way, something held me back. But the truth is that I really enjoyed this session and I should have shared it back in March! Along with so many other sessions that I have loved. And I'd like more of these in my life. So here's my call to the universe as I get my work-life back in to order this week. I'd really love to book more maternity and newborn sessions this fall and winter – cozy, cuddly, casual, easy, no-fuss, lots of love, forget the stress, be in the moment – type of sessions. There it is, out there for the universe.

perfectly imperfect | Toronto newborn lifestyle photographer

I'm going back to the summer with this one, which has me thinking of hazy warm days and a late-setting sun. The clouds were coming and going so we rolled with it and made the most of the moving light. This family let me slip into their space and didn't try to change anything or be something they're not, which in my mind made it totally perfect.

Alyssa + Bump | Toronto maternity lifestyle photographer

Alyssa is the reason I started an Instagram feed for my photography clients. We were at a wedding last year and she was like "how can you not have a IG feed for your business?!?!". I've used instagram forever, but I love it for chronologically organizing iPhone photos of my everyday life [Side note: this is what IG was originally intended for. However I feel I might be one of the last photographers out there who still posts tacky, sometimes rather crappy (albeit funny) photos from their phone]. Anyways, I've slowly been posting photos of my clients on a separate feed and Alyssa is usually one of the first to like them (thank you!!) and it has been a really nice way to share some of my favourites :)

Alyssa's baby is due very soon and I was super pumped to spend time with her in her friend's awesome loft. He let us hang out there while he was at work, but forgot to mention the 14-foot dead Christmas tree hanging out in the middle of the room. I've had to move many things out of the way during a session in my time, but a large tree skeleton was a new one for me!  Luckily it's no problem for me to have pine needles stuck in my hair – it compliments the frazzled mom look I already have going on.

Alyssa and Justin, I'm excited to meet your little guy very soon!

that golden sun | toronto family photographer

We're about to be hit with a final winter snowstorm. Well I'm just going to keep thinking happy thoughts of warmth and sunshine.

This session was from early September and features a fellow photographer and her beautiful family. Always an honour...
