Alyssa + Bump | Toronto maternity lifestyle photographer

Alyssa is the reason I started an Instagram feed for my photography clients. We were at a wedding last year and she was like "how can you not have a IG feed for your business?!?!". I've used instagram forever, but I love it for chronologically organizing iPhone photos of my everyday life [Side note: this is what IG was originally intended for. However I feel I might be one of the last photographers out there who still posts tacky, sometimes rather crappy (albeit funny) photos from their phone]. Anyways, I've slowly been posting photos of my clients on a separate feed and Alyssa is usually one of the first to like them (thank you!!) and it has been a really nice way to share some of my favourites :)

Alyssa's baby is due very soon and I was super pumped to spend time with her in her friend's awesome loft. He let us hang out there while he was at work, but forgot to mention the 14-foot dead Christmas tree hanging out in the middle of the room. I've had to move many things out of the way during a session in my time, but a large tree skeleton was a new one for me!  Luckily it's no problem for me to have pine needles stuck in my hair – it compliments the frazzled mom look I already have going on.

Alyssa and Justin, I'm excited to meet your little guy very soon!

A newfound love for gloomy days | Toronto Family Photographer

I'm easing my way back into things starting a with a few sessions this month. This was a pretty nice way to kick things off. I love Stef and her family and it is always such an honour to photograph them. It was a dull day and the rain held off just long enough for this. We laughed with relief afterwards and Ryan commented on how he actually sort of likes gloomy days. Well now I do too.

Jess, Jay + Bump | Toronto Maternity Photographer

I mentioned that I've been shooting again over the past few weeks – so it's time to start showing it! Although it can be tough to be away from Brooke while she's so young, it's also a nice break and it feels so good to be holding the camera and focused on nothing else but my lovely subjects. And this shoot was particularly awesome because Jessica and Jay are good friends of ours, and they are expecting their first baby in just a couple of weeks. We couldn't be more thrilled for them.

We booked a sitter and spent an entire Saturday evening with Jay & Jess. We started at their new house and then headed to the Ancaster Old Mill. It was fun to have Kyle as my assistant for the evening and by the end I was a sweaty mess with muddy feet (I took my chances with a swamp in hopes of a great shot). Relaxing with a glass of wine was the perfect ending. A beautiful sunset, catching up with good friends, Pinot Grigio and dinner. That's my kinda night.
